A legal disclaimer

These Terms & Conditions (“Agreement”) govern all studio rentals at the Department of Creative Pursuits (“DoCP,” “we,” “us,” or “our”). By booking, paying for, or using the studio, you (“Client,” “Renter,” or “you”) agree to the following terms:

1. Bookings & Payments

All bookings must be paid in full in advance to confirm your reservation.
Rental time begins and ends as scheduled, including setup and breakdown. Arriving early or staying late may result in overtime charges.
Bookings are non-transferable unless approved by DoCP management.

2. Cancellations & Rescheduling

Cancellations made 72 hours or more before the scheduled booking may be rescheduled one time at no additional charge.
Cancellations made less than 72 hours before the booking are non-refundable.
Failure to show up for a booking (“no show”) forfeits all fees.
Any rescheduled dates must be within 30 days of the original booking.

3. Studio Use & Conduct

Renter is responsible for all persons in their party, including guests, crew, and talent.
No smoking, vaping, or open flames unless pre-approved in writing.
Noise levels must remain reasonable out of respect for other members and tenants.
Animals are not permitted unless used in the production and cleared beforehand.
The space must be left in the same condition it was found. A cleaning fee may be applied if excessive mess is left behind.

4. Equipment & Property

All included gear, furniture, and props must remain on-site unless approved by DoCP staff.
Renter assumes full responsibility for any damage or loss of DoCP equipment, furniture, walls, or property during their booking.
Damage fees may include replacement cost and downtime for repairs.
If cyc walls or sets are painted, marked, or damaged, repainting fees will apply.

5. Liability & Insurance

Renter agrees that DoCP is not responsible for injury, theft, or loss of personal property.
Renter assumes all risk and liability for the duration of the booking.
Professional productions are strongly encouraged to carry liability insurance naming DoCP as an additional insured.

6. Filming & Photography Restrictions

You may film or photograph within your reserved areas only.
Shared common areas (hallways, co-working, etc.) require staff approval before filming.
You may not post or distribute materials suggesting DoCP’s endorsement without prior permission.

7. Security & Access

Entry codes or access credentials are for authorized individuals only and may not be shared.
Any misuse of access systems (Kisi, Wi-Fi, etc.) may result in immediate termination of access without refund.
DoCP reserves the right to monitor the premises via security cameras for safety and property protection.

8. Capacity Policy
Each studio has a posted maximum capacity listed on the booking page:
Studio A = 20 people

Studio B = 12 people

Studio A + B = 35 people.
These limits include all crew, talent, and guests on site.

Exceeding the stated capacity without prior written approval will result in an Over-Capacity Fee of $250, automatically charged to the payment method on file.

Repeated or significant overages (6+ additional people or safety violations) may result in immediate termination of the session without refund and suspension of future booking privileges.

9. Indemnification

Renter agrees to indemnify and hold harmless DoCP, its owners, partners, and staff from any and all claims, damages, or expenses arising out of renter’s use of the facilities, including acts by guests, crew, or third parties hired by the renter.

10. Termination of Booking

DoCP reserves the right to terminate a session immediately if renter or their guests violate these terms, behave inappropriately, or pose a safety risk to others or the space. In such cases, no refund will be issued.

11. Agreement

By booking a studio at DoCP, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to these Terms & Conditions.
